This amazing tour starts in Cochin, and finishes in Kovalam.

It includes Cochin, called the Queen of the Arabian Sea, Kochi was an important spice trading centre on the west coast of India from the 14th century onward, and maintained a trade network with Arab merchants from the pre-Islamic era. Occupied by the Portuguese in 1503, Kochi was the first of the European colonies in colonial India.  It remained the main seat of Portuguese until 1530, when Goa was chosen instead. The city was later occupied by the Dutch, and the British, with the Kingdom of Cochin  becoming a  princely state.

Kochi ranks first in the total number of international and domestic tourist arrivals in Kerala. The city was ranked the sixth best tourist destination in India according to a survey on behalf of the Outlook Traveller Magazine.

After two nights in Cochin, very quaint, we climb on board our Kettuvallam – our houseboats, converted from traditional rice barges. We cruise some of the network of waterways, and enjoy quiet canals, relaxing river life, while having the comforts – air conditioning, kitchen, balcony, private bathrooms, with hot showers.

Next we discover Kumarakom

Kumarakom slumbers on the banks of the famous Vembanad Lake, which is a part of Kuttanad (‘granary’ of Kerala). The Vembanad Lake with its majestic canals, streams and distributaries along its banks weave an intricate and enchantingly beautiful web. The water ways of Kuttanad is now a big attraction for tourist

Set on the twists and turns of a 250-m long meandering pool, each of the traditionally styled yet luxuriously modern Meandering Pool Villas at Kumarakom Lake Resort has access to the pool from individual and private bathing coves and cosy sit outs. The traditionally furnished Meandering Pool Duplex Villas merge the past with the present with its luxurious bedroom overlooking the 250-meter long meandering swimming pool. Each duplex villa possesses direct, individual access to the pool from its very own bathing cove and private sit-outs.
