Kolkata, formerly called Calcutta, is the capital of West Bengal. It is located in eastern India, on the east bank of the River Hooghly, and has a subtropical climate.
Our Glam Girls Tour starts with two nights at the fabulous 5 Star Oberoi Grand Hotel –
Finding its establishment back to the late 1880s, The Oberoi Grand is one of the best luxury heritage hotels in Kolkata, exuding a royal colonial style with modern additions. It is situated within ease to the shopping.
Two nights before our cruise plus one night after our cruise here will do us just fine!
We then catch the train down to Farakka to embark on the ABN (Lower Ganges Downstream Cruise) back to Kolkata.
Ganges and Lower Ganges (Hooghly) cruises are all about visits to villages, towns, temples and monuments in a little-known but fascinating and culturally rich part of India, on foot, by cycle rickshaw or minibus.
Full board included – 7 night cruise
Our selection of boutique cruise ships are comfortable, contemporary, and celebratory of Assam and Bengal’s rich regional heritage. They are designed to reflect a sense of homecoming to the region: the unique objets d’art and handicrafts aboard the ships have been carefully collected and curated over the years, and the locally made furniture and textiles are a product of traditional craftsmanship and modern design intervention.
As such, each boutique ship was designed to be purposefully distinct in its style, with interesting stories that accompany each ship’s décor.
ABN Rajmahal has 22 cabins: 14 spacious twin/double cabins on the upper deck; 4 twin/double cabins on the main deck; and 4 single cabins on the main deck for which we charge no supplement.
All cabins have en suites with W.C., French balconies, a writing desk and chair, mini-fridge, individual climate control, and storage space.
